Sarah Drew and Jesse Williams, return in Grey’s Anatomy’s season 18 finale, which will be aired on May 26th. EW confirmed this.
The actors portray doctors Jackson Avery (a.k.a. April Kepner). The fan-favorite couple Japril last appeared on Grey’s season 17, when Williams left the show after 12 seasons. Drew, who had previously left the show in season 14 returned to Jackson’s aid (and offer some hope for fans).
Jackson specifically went to April to tell her that he was moving to Boston for his family’s business. Jackson then asked April to go with him to Boston to be near their daughter. April agreed to travel with him to Boston. She also revealed that she had recently divorced her husband. April was able to shippers.
Jackson was able to appear in one more episode to say goodbye to the hospital staff. He then told EW that he felt great. Not only was the response overwhelming, but also the fact that we were able to create a departure that made sense and that connected to Jackson’s history. It was a great honor to be able to work with the writers to create a story that is both respectful of the characters and those around him, as well as one that connects to the real world.
He also mentioned the possibility of a comeback, saying that he believed it was possible. He is not dead! He is still involved in the foundation’s work. He’s everybody’s boss. It’s possible, I believe. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Both Jackson and April will be returning soon, with a chance to update you on their treatment in Boston.
