New Commissioned Rolls-Royce Boat Tail Is The Perfect Vehicle for A Day Out

Some days, people just want to go out for a beach day or a park picnic. Then you have to consider packing your belongings, which can be a hassle. If there’s room in your garage, there’s a perfect option available: the second Rolls-Royce Boat Tail.

The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail, whose rear butterfly panels reveal a “hosting suite,” was unveiled during the 2022 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. This vintage car celebration event takes place on the shores of Lake Como in northern Italy. Among the cars was this terracotta naval-inspired model with a one-of-a-kind matte cognac-painted Pantheon grille.

Even though Rolls-Royce is known for its trademark air of class, its Coachbuild series is taking it to another level. This Rolls-Royce is one of three yacht-inspired models in the Coachbuild Bespoke series. In addition to the 2018 Sweptail, there is a 2021 Boat Tail model that was speculated to be the most expensive street-legal car in the world totaling $28 million. The 2022 model is rumored to dethrone the first installment, as it is said to be in the $30 million range.  It perfects the duality of elegant style built from collaboration and luxury functionality for days of leisure.

The nautical theme goes even further with the Boat Tail Next Chapter. As with its predecessor, the principal buyer remains anonymous. It is known that buyer’s family business was a result of the pearling industry. The collaborative practices of Coachbuilt models used four pristine pearl shells, courtesy of the buyer, as inspiration. Not only did it influence the exterior finish of the car–a blend of oyster and soft rose that subtly changes under different lighting–but it makes for the dashboard’s timepiece, which is made from real mother-of-pearl.

The exterior rivals the interior’s careful attention to detail. Opening the Royal Walnut butterfly panels unleash the signature Boat Tail hosting suite. There is a refrigerated compartment on the left panel that houses champagne flutes and wine. The right side holds dishes and silverware. Drivers can even erect an umbrella in between the panels to enjoy a sunny day without too much glare.

No hosting suite is complete without tables that extend from the sides or camping chairs stowed below. Given the price tag, it’s only right that this boat-on-wheels comes with RV-level bells and whistles. Who needs a trunk when you have all the amenities anybody will ever need?

Unfortunately, there are only three examples of this car. However, if Coachbuilt Bespoke Rolls-Royces continue, future top-of-the-line vehicles will be inevitable.
